Appointments I don't see the day/time I want for an appointment. What should I do?
The schedule shows an open time but won't let me request an appointment. The earliest available time slot I see is in 3 weeks. Can't I get in sooner? I requested an appointment through the client portal, but at the time of my session I was told I don't have an appointment scheduled. What happened? Why do I have to confirm when I receive a reminder notice even though I spoke with/texted/emailed someone in your office when I originally scheduled my appointment? I missed or cancelled my appointment and no one from your office contacted me to reschedule. Why? I missed or cancelled my appointment and am having trouble rescheduling for the same week. The therapist cancelled on me! What's up with that? I cleared my schedule for this appointment. The therapist cancelled on me! What should I do about rescheduling my appointment? I showed up for my appointment, and the therapist wasn't there. I didn't get any advance notice of cancellation. What happened? How does the waitlist work? |
Billing & Payments What methods of payment are accepted?
I have insurance. Why did I get a bill from your office. Why did I get a bill from my insurance company for my sessions(s)? I don't have money for my co-payment. Should I cancel the session? I paid for my session but received an invoice saying I owe money. What should I do? There is a credit on my account. Can I get reimbursed for that? |
Client Portal https://btchevalierlcsw.clientsecure.me How do I log in to the Client Portal?

I can log in to the Client Portal but I can't schedule appointments. Can I may payments through the Client Portal? |
Forms, Documents & Records I'm filing for Disability, FMLA, an injury claim, Workman's comp, SSI, etc. and listed Beverly as my provider. How long will it take for my forms to be completed and returned?
I wasn't accepted for, or didn't get paid for, disability, FMLA, injury claim, workman's comp. Beverly must have completed my documents incorrectly? I need you to send my records, or to confirm I'm a client in your practice, or to talk to a social services worker or another provider, or call my child's teacher.... etc. Can you write a letter saying my pet is an emotional support animal so that I am allowed to keep it in my home? |
Insurance What forms of insurance to you accept?
Can I still see Beverly if I don't have Husky or Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield? I am not insured by Husky or Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and your office suggested I contact Advekit. What, exactly, is Advekit? I really want to work with Beverly as my therapist but I don't have either Husky or Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield for insurance. I contacted Advekit and am not a good match. I can't afford to pay the rates posted on your website. Do you offer reduced rates? I have Husky or Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield for insurance. How much will my co-pays be? I don't understand why I have to pay anything for my sessions if you accept insurance. I thought my co-pay was the only thing I needed to know about my insurance. What's all this about deductibles, co-pay, co-insurance, out-of-pocket expenses, eligibility and benefits, in-network and out-of-network, etc? You get paid the full amount of the session from my insurance, why the big deal about me not paying my co-pay? I have two insurances. Can I use them both so I don't have any out-of-pocket expenses? I have Husky (medicaid) and private insurance (for example: Aetna, Anthem BC/BS, Cigna, United Healthcare). I want my therapy sessions billed to Husky. Why didn't my insurance pay for my services? Why are some services covered by insurance and others are not? I received notice from your office that Husky (medicaid) denied the claim for my services. What am I supposed to do? My insurance didn't pay the claim for services. I don't think it's my fault, why should I have to pay out of pocket? My insurance changed. What should I do? Please explain terms like in-network, out-of-network, out-of-pocket, co-pays, co-insurance, deductible, EOB, eligibility, benefit year, etc, |

Furthermore, if your appointment was request was accepted you will receive reminder notices 72 hours, 48 hours, and 24 hours prior to your session. Why do I have to reply to the appointment confirmation notices even
though I spoke with/texted/emailed someone in your office

though I spoke with/texted/emailed someone in your office

Life happens! Sometimes appointments are made & forgotten about, sometimes conflicting obligations come up. We ask for at least 24 hours advance confirmation so that if a client can't attend their session we can either offer the open spot to someone else or adjust other tasks accordingly. You only need to reply to one of the confirmation notices. If we do not receive confirmation at least 24 hour prior to your session time, your appointment may be forfeit and the spot offered to a waitlisted client.

When you cancel or miss your appointment, we let you be accountable to follow-up with our office to reschedule. We are a client-centered practice and believe in supporting the client in being responsible and accountable for consistently, effectively, and efficiently utilizing their therapy. Sometimes routine appointments unexpectedly turn into crisis appointments and run over time. Sometimes the therapist, like everyone else, encounters life issues: illness, unplanned family obligations, car problems, inclement weather, traffic, etc. As soon as we are aware that the therapist will not make a session, we try very hard to contact the client to make them aware. Depending on the circumstances, contact is sometimes made after the scheduled session time. Although we try our best to complete every scheduled appointment, life happens and sessions sometimes need to be unexpectedly cancelled!

do about rescheduling my appointment?
do about rescheduling my appointment?
Whenever the therapist cancels on the client, our office makes every effort to reach out to the client ASAP to reschedule. Whenever possible, the therapist tries to make up the session in the same week. If the therapist cancelled and our office did not contact you within 24 business hours after the cancelled session to reschedule, please either message our office or reschedule the session through the Client Portal.
What methods of payments are accepted?
Detailed payment information is on our Insurance, Bills and Payments page.

I have insurance. Why did I get a bill from your practice?
The most likely reason you would have received a bill is because the insurance company denied payment for the services provided or you have an unmet deductible and your coverage hasn't set in yet, or you have outstanding co-payments /co-insurance.
I don't have the money for my co-payment. Should I cancel my session?
We prefer that you keep your session and work out some sort of payment agreement rather than disrupt your therapy work. Please contact our office and make arrangements prior to your session.

What insurances do you take?
Beverly is an in-network outpatient behavioral health/mental health provider for HUSKY (CT Medicaid) and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
Clients who expect to pay for psychotherapy services using insurance that is not Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield or HUSKY (CT medicaid) must contact Advekit, an online platform that helps clients use their Out of Network insurance to pay for therapy.

I have Anthem or Husky for insurance. How much would my co-payment be?
Co-payments (and deductibles and co-insurance) are dependent on your specific insurance plan. Contact your insurance company to determine if your plan covers our services and how much your out-of-pocket costs will be. As part of the new patient registration process, our office also contacts insurance companies to confirm client eligibility and benefits.
I really want to work with you as my therapist, but I don't have Husky (CT Medicaid) or Anthem Blue Cross insurance; neither am I a good match for the Advekit service. I can't afford to pay the full posted rates for counseling services. Do you offer reduced fees?
It's important to be honest with yourself and the therapist about how much you can afford to pay for therapy. You may need to consider scheduling bi-weekly sessions instead of weekly in order to make therapy more affordable for your budget. Clients who require reduced rate services may apply for a sliding scale fee reduction. The sliding scale fee reduction is based on household size and income. For more information click here for the Sliding Fee Program page. Reduced fees start at $65/therapeutic hour.

Advekit's service is completely free for you to use and they try to get you savings up front, or at least work toward your deductible.

How do I contact Advekit with specific questions
I have about my out-of-network insurance benefits?
I have about my out-of-network insurance benefits?
If you have specific questions about using your out-of-network insurance benefits to pay for services, please contact Advekit's Billing team.
Why don't you take my insurance? Don't you have to accept all insurances?
Providers voluntarily apply to be in-network providers with insurance companies. Insurance companies decide which providers will be credentialed as in-network providers. Sometimes when there are a lot of the same type of providers in a certain geographical region, insurance companies will not accept new providers of that type into their network.
Why are some services covered by insurance and others are not?
Insurance companies determine which services they will cover and under what conditions they will cover such services. Services that are not considered medically related (i.e. Life coaching or Reiki) are generally not covered. Contact your insurance provider to ascertain if the services you want are covered under your plan.
Why did my insurance company send me a bill for my session(s)?
Bills for your unpaid sessions will come directly from our practice (or from Advekit, if you're using out-of-network insurance benefits).
Insurance companies bill you for your insurance premiums, not for services provided by clinicians. The document you received from your insurance company is probably an EOB (Explanation of Benefits). An EOB explains what services the clinician billed your insurance company for, how much the clinician charged for the services, how much the insurance company paid, and what your share of the the responsibility for the cost is. I thought the only insurance issue I need to worry about is co-payments but now I'm trying to make sense of terms like in-network, out-of-network, co-pays, co-insurances, deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, EOBs, eligibility, benefit year, etc.
What does all of that really mean and why does it matter to me?

SESSIONS
How often should I meet with the therapist?
Frequency of sessions is mutually determined by client and therapist based on: 1) severity of the client problems, 2) client's availability, 3) therapist's availability, 4) client's ability to pay for services.
Can I see the therapist for 2 hours each session or for multiple times per week?
We are not a crisis service or acute care service. Most sessions are conducted at 30 or 45 minutes once per week. In rare cases sessions may be temporarily offered up to two days per week. If a client consistently requires increased frequency and intensity of sessions multiple days per week, they will be assessed and referred to appropriate higher level of care.
Please note that you are responsible for paying for any extra session time that you request.

How do I get in touch with the therapist outside of the posted clinical hours?
We do not offer crisis services. The therapist is available during posted clinical hours. Crisis issues that arise outside of posted hours and that require immediate attention should be assessed via 211 (Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Services) or 911.
